This is my first official post to my Blog about SharePoint. Since my professional life is focused on SharePoint, it seemed wrong to use any other platform for blogging. I’m using Word 2007 to create this blog post, though I’ve just seen Mike Walsh’s post at http://mikewalsh.bilsimser.com/PermaLink,guid,5b5166d5-0372-46e8-9f21-b6f6f558d0dd.aspx which cites several KB articles about issues with doing so. They are:
- http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;928327 – Error message in Word 2007 when you try to publish a blog post to a blog that was created in Windows SharePoint Services: “Word cannot publish the pictures in this post”
- http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;928292 – The text in a bulleted or numbered list becomes misaligned when you use Word 2007 to publish a blog post to a SharePoint blog site. Well now, I should experience that one any moment now…
[Update: The bullets look fine to me…]
- http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b928299 – The width of empty table cells is not preserved when you use Word 2007 to publish a table to a SharePoint blog site (ver 1.2)
- http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;928284 – The order of blog post objects changes during publication when you use Word 2007 to publish a blog post to a SharePoint blog site (ver 1.3)
If these issues get in my way too much, I’ll try out Microsoft’s Live Writer. Failing that, I can always use SharePoint Designer… or Notepad!
